Electric vehicle market will reach a “tipping point” in 2022

https://electrek.co/2019/01/30/report-claims-ownership-cost-of-evs-in-uk-will-be-equal-to-gas-diesel-cars-by-2022/

"A new report claims the electric vehicle market will reach a “tipping point” in 2022, when the cost of owning a BEV will equal that of owning a gas or diesel vehicle. The analysis comes from Deloitte, which also foresees EVs grabbing ten percent of the total market by 2024."

I think we're at the start of the S curve and I think a lot of these estimates will prove too modest and the uptake will surprise to the upside.  2024 is still 5 years away and every major brand has plans to produce EVs.  I could easily see new sales in the UK being double the 10% forecast.

I agree.  My own prediction would be two years earlier than that.  China new energy cars already had 4.4% market share for new car sale last year.  China will achieve 10% market share for new energy cars, probably in 2021..
