Came across this while checking the news.  Looks like Chinese steel producers need more raw material. Likely brought on by supply disruptions and new stimulas projects being proposed to help recover the economy after virus wraps up.

One topic not covered by the article is China's concern with air quality and the resulting increase in pollutets if it were to further develop any of their existing low grade / high polluting ore deposits.

The following is taken from the article.  Encouraging to see that Canada was pointed out as an under-utilitized source of iron ore.

He suggested that steel firms investing in new mines or expanding production at existing deposits should be exempted from income tax.
 
“(We should) continue to actively promote joint investment and cooperation with mainstream miners while also focusing on undeveloped resources in Africa and Canada,” He said.
