Speculation on Iron Ore Demand

With Canada and China working together to develope a virus vaccine there is obviously some level of interest in the two countries working together at the moment.

With the virus still fresh in everyone's memory I am douthful that low grade Ore in China will be allowed to come back online to any large extent (if at all) due to the pollutants that the lower grade ore processing produces.  Anything that will cause lung irratation to the populas will likely be either prohibited or done so at the most modest levels.

Articles related to Vale / Brazil indicate that the virus outbreak is now starting to be a growing concern within that country and within Vale itself.  Vale has implemented wide spread testing for at least one entire town of 100,000 people.  This (and any other virus related cost) will have to be made up for in the selling price of their ore.

If Vale starts working with more limited crew sizes they begin to risk another safety event such as a dam burst we seen early last year.  Any such large-scale event will likely shut down the Vale operation while their entire operation comes under review by the government.  Smaller crew size, or more restrictive working conditions, will also impact Vale's productivity and through-put of iron ore hence the possibility that Vale's sea-bourne supply could drop off while the demand side of the equation ramps up.

I have been falling somewhat behind on articles related to new infrustruture (steel hungry) projects by other countries in response to trying to siimulate economies after the virus has passed and a new vaccine comes online however time will tell how it all works out.  I will continue to monitor the shareprice of existing steel related stocks as well as the spot price on Iron Ore to see where the speculation on steel demand takes things.

Regarding this specific stock.  Management needs to come through on their commitment to get the stock off the pink-sheets.  Once that occurs it will come back into consideration by more and more investors.
