RE: RE: Dear God

RE: RE: Dear God

Sharpei, Indeed a very fitting quote by Thomas Paine that you shared.  Most of us have those values, beliefs and wonderful families to love.  But values and beliefs in a higher power and experiencing love both giving and recieving is getting more distant to many I am afraid. Life is cheap to many.  We are living in dark times.  I live in a small town in Arizona.  I am lucky I guess.  I was taught the meaning of respect, honesty, honor and hard work from my parents. I instilled that philosophy in my sons when they were growing up.  The anger and disrepect I am seeing in many of our young people these days bothers me. Maybe it is time to do something simple like take a kid fishing. More family dinners where everyone sits at the same table and no texting allowed during that meal. Does anyone go on picnics as a family any more?  Teach to be thankful for what we have and work hard if you want more rather than the envy by many who feel it should be handed to them as if it is their right.

I know this is way off topic for this board, but I really do feel that the answer is to get back to basics of the true meaning of what a family is supposed to be or at least once was.

It takes a lot to bring a tear to my eye, but I did get a few today.

Like Marlon Brando said in the movie Apocolypse Now......."The Horror.....The Horror".
