Award date: December 2012

• • Construction of 51.4 Km x 12-inch ERW API 5L 52 Oil Pipeline starting from the flange downstream of the Pig Launcher at Umusadege Group Gathering Facility (GGF) end to the flange upstream of the Pig Receiver, located at the SPDC Eriemu Manifold end.
  • Construction, Installation and Piping of the Valve Pit inclusive of barred tee at Ogini
  • Associated Earth and Civil works including perimeter fencing at Ogini
  • Provision of portable Water, Valves, Pressure Gauges, pumps, Retaining Tanks etc. as required for successful Hydro testing
  • Fabrication and Installation of Pipe supports and shoes at the pig trap locations
  • Electrical and Instrumentation works
  • Construction and Installation of Cathodic Protection systems
  • Major and Minor Road crossings
  • Testing and Commissioning works
  • Provision of “As built” documentation

Excellent news, but remember how one of Mart's main "boosters" claimed that the pipeline was being laid back in November, even before the contract was awarded? And we have since heard others claim that construction started at varying times. But as the contract was only awarded in December, it is hard to say exactly when construction has, or will, begin. Anyone who knows anything about construction knows that the process starts a heck of a long time before the first shovel hits the ground.
