a few thoughts

a few thoughts
A stock market correction tests the patience of even the most unwaveringinvestor. It is imperative to appreciate that a correction is normal, notabnormal. Thinking long-term demands that you ride out market fluctuations.Recognizing that the downs are temporary and that the trend is upwards helpsyou understand that fluctuations do not reflect losses but opportunities. From Lifeafter the market correction: history demonstrates that reacting to a marketdecline is a poor decisionby Elliott Levine| Oct, 1998
Over the pastthirty years, I have seen my share of market correction. This oneis not diferent from the other ones…good stocks always bounce back. First ofall to be on the big Toronto exchange is a big promotion and always positive. The requirements are stringent and flight by night operations do no make itthere. In this case, an it is unfortunate, the timing was not good and no onecould have predicted it.
I do notundestand why some of you pay more to trade on the Toronto exchange. I pay aflat fee of $9.95 per trade on HSBC Investorline either on the Venture or theTSX. By he way, I am one of the traders on HSBC, who bought about 100,000shares more over the pas five weeks. My wife and I have 700,000 shares of MDGin sixdifferent accounts. A fewweeks backour lost on MDG were 6% today it is almost 30%...and I am still as confident asever…think long term.
If I wasnot (and you are lucky, I am), I could have dumped all my shares on the market, bringing MDG in the low ten in the process. Just kidding.
Toprevent an otherfiscal disasterlike we haveexperienced almosttwo years ago….some of the investment rules at the international level arechanging slowly…making a lot of people nervous especially hedge funds andshorters. As far as I am concernedit is asmall price to pay forlong term peace of mind.
Thefundamentals of MDG has not changed and the long term prospect looks quitegood. We are just being a victimof crazy market fluctuations worlwide. I will not enjoy the ride in the shortterm but I will survice it….stronger than
ever.
