Stupid laws - Only in Quebec
Stupid laws - Only in QuebecStrangely enough there is only one place in Canda that could be true...
In 1970, Quebec legislated an annual holiday for the construction industry which begins the 2nd last Sunday of July every year lasting for a period of 2 weeks, and the holiday came into effect officially in the summer of 1971. Many Quebecers outside the construction industry also take their holidays during these two weeks, and it is the busiest time of year for the province's tourism industry, with a surge of up to 40% in activity at some sites.
Bill 101 - Loi 101, is a law in the province of Quebec in Canada defining French, the language of the majority of the population, as the official languageof Quebec and framing fundamental language rights.
Bill 101 has been amended more than six times since 1977. Each amendment has aroused controversy over such provisions as the use of French on commercial signs or restrictions on enrollment into anglophone schools
