MERITUS INTERSECTS 16.0 METRES OF 7.73 G/T GOLD
AT GUTAIN DAVAA

Vancouver, B.C.: Meritus Minerals Ltd. (MML) (TSX-V – MER) has received additional analytical results from its diamond drilling program on the Toordogiin Shil Prospect, Gutain Davaa Project in northern Mongolia.

Two of the holes reported have substantial intersections of strong gold mineralization, i.e. 16.0 metres of 7.73 g Au/t in TSD010 and 10.7 metres of 7.21 g Au/t in TSD008. Thicknesses of mineralized sections noted represent drilled thicknesses and approximate true thicknesses although the complexity of the geology does not allow for accurate measurement of true thicknesses at this early stage in the program. Both holes contain narrow very high grade zones within the broader mineralized zones. The thicker intersections noted above and in the following table include assays to a cutoff of 0.25 g/t gold. Full results from five of the holes reported are listed in the table below.

Two other short holes, TSD015 and TSD016, were drilled in opposite directions on the same section approximately 200 metres south of the main mineralized zone to test a strong gold anomaly in soils. These failed to intersect favourable geology or any evidence of gold mineralization. Further work is therefore required to explain the strong geochemical anomaly.

Of the five holes drilled in the main mineralized zone and reported in the above table, TSD009 is considered to have overshot the target due to the presence of a fault that appears to dip in a south-southwesterly direction and offset the mineralized zone an undetermined distance.

Drilling is currently proceeding to the north of TSD009 and TSD010 to locate the mineralized zones in the footwall of this fault.

Meritus has recently completed a detailed topographic survey, by independent surveyors, of the locations and elevations of the thirty holes drilled to date. The survey also accurately located a number of the holes drilled by the previous property owner. Once details are received from the surveyors a more precise determination of the geometry of the mineralized zone will be possible and will assist in unraveling the complex geology of the mineralized zone.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

Drill core is transported from drill site to camp where it is logged and cut in half by diamond saw. One half of the core is retained for reference, the other half is sampled in approximately one metre intervals. Samples are transported to a laboratory in Ulaan Baatar, are crushed and are completely pulverized to 90% passing 75 microns.

Two pulps are split from the pulverized sample. One set of pulps is retained by the laboratory for ICP analysis when required. The second set is forwarded to Meritus where sequentially numbered standards and blanks are included. This set of pulps is then forwarded to a second laboratory where fire assay for gold is carried out on a 30 gram charge. Finish is by AAS. Two standards and one blank are included with every 25 samples submitted. On receipt of results duplicates of selected pulps are forwarded to a third laboratory to check fire assays and to test the efficiency of the pulverization carried out by the preparation laboratory.
