Gas...... what to do with it

From the IFR and PRD days the HSE Summit Creek and Stewart SDLs returned a lot of condensate and even more gas.  I suspect the Canol has high cuts of volatiles which is great but with no NG pipeline what do you do with it all.  The option for flaring the associated gas on federally administered land and airshed will be squashed or severely curtailed.  It's silly really that the resource potential for the territories is held up due to bureaucratic delays.  When gas was $12/mcf in the mid-2000's the MVP project was viable.  30 years on non-decision really makes for lost economic diversity opportunity.

Could you imagine that bringing Canol oil to market would be held up by the inability to manage the associated gas?  I guess that if the big EPGs find theres lots of oil in the Canol there will be a push by the majors to build out the MVP.

geodude13 The shale is sealed off by a rock cover so take out the oil and inject the NG back down another well just like the water disposal wells down here in the USA

Farml not up in the NWT unless there is a depleted reservoir with well understood containment. This play is quasi-wildcat. Maybe the Kee Scarp could hold some gas as IMO wells are in decline near Norman wells. Unlikely though as the ability to recover the gas must be well demonstrated and it is IMO (Exxon) and they're not the most cooperative type of oil company allowing other operators access ...more
