Hatch's report on Driftwood entailed - furnace application -

I've mentioned using electrolysis - there are a few electrolysis methodes that prevent caking of Mg on the cathode using vibrating electolysis.

I've mentioned using a sodium chloride solution whereas MgCO3 swaps out and Mg takes on the chloride while the sodium takes on the carbon and oxygen. ( it's a good idea )


What i have not covered is steam reformation....
converting the MgCO3 with Sodium Chloride solution
MgCl2 and NaC2CO3


Why even perform such an conversion ?
Simple answer ?
One just dealt with the ( carbon ) away from the magnesium.
Sodium now has the carbon.



CLOSER ANALYSIS ?
There are two chloride bonds to the magnesium.
At first glance one assumes there is no hydrogen bond with the MgCl2 

But... if one researches what bonds with MgCl2 - there are - WATER BONDS.
2 chlorides = 6 hydrogen BONDS each
= 12 HYDROGEN + 6 OXYGEN.


Let's ask if - steam reforming would be best suited.
Steam reformation is already PRACTICED in the gas industry.
Infastructure is in place.

Once the formula of,  MgClNa2CO3  is achieved,
what would happen if this solution was placed in a steam reformation processes ?
COULD STEAM REFORMATION SEAPRATE EACH ?
 
Sodium carbonate ( intact ) but separated ?
Magnesium chloride ( intact ) but separated ?
Secondary process separating the oxygen + hydrogen bonds from the chloride ?
= 12 Hydrogen bonds ?
 
IS IT POSSIBLE ?

= hgh purity MgO or Mg dropping out.


Could steam reformation be the right path vs furnace or electrolysis ?
Could/Should this lil junior be perfroming a quick conversion of thier MgCO3 to a chloride and
testing to see if the steam reformation is the best path over, furnace melt or electrolysis ?


Think of it as... the chloride bonding is selectively pairing ( harvesting ) the magnesium + hydrogen.
It's actually targeting and forming a bond - which can be looked at as using a cheap chloride to target another element - isolating it - doing the work load -  seaparting the carbon bond.
= coaxing the Mg and hydrogen to pair with chloride along with oxygen.



Could be as simple as...
Standard crush, grind, seaparate imurities,
introduce the sodium chloride to formulate a solution
run through steam reformation
select separation


Let's ask, who would be the right partner ?
whose into steam reformation ?
Could junior create a feedstock =  MgCl2 + Na2ClO3 ?
Would the gas sector be the ideal partner ?

Would there be a 12x hydrogen off gassing to separate ?

What does a methane gas molecule have = 4 part hydrgoen.

Detaching 12 hydrogen bonds vs 4 hydrogen -
certainly higher yeild - maybe even less energy used
to perform the split ?


If it were me... 
i'd perform a quick test - convert a batch of ores to = MgCl2 + Na2CO3 
Then, tap another on the shoulder to see if they can reform the solution via steam
= separate each element.

ONE SHOULD BE ASKING ?
Could a special steam reformation incorporate an electrolysis that captures each seaparate bond ?
Electrolytic large screens or plates that respond to the steam andcapture each formed molecule ?
Arriving at... Sodium carbonate and a stand alone Mg chloride ?


Steam is not a gas, it's a vapor.
It's a prestage of breaking down ( weakening ) solution bonds.
Therefore, could be far easier ( higher volume processing ) than say - standard electrolysis.
Question is.. would the steam conversion break any bonds thus, carbon comes back into the picture - separated from the sodium ?


IF STEAM REFORMATION WERE EVER POSSIBLE -
I'd .. calculate the potential of the hydrogen one could amass.
Such would certainly assist the economics -

Could this process of simple chloride conversion outperform a methane gas operation in higher hydrogen yield ? Before you answer think of what the - methane perculates from - yup.. a plethora of hydrocarbons and mega salts.

Read that previous sentence once again.
And then conceptualize a steam reformation process separating several impurities.
Even sulphurs.



So why was the Hatch Driftwood report kept confidentioal ?
Why did they choose such a very expensive - furnace melt - flow sheet ?

If others are wondering how it's possible for 12 hydrogen to bond with a magnesium chloride,
here's a link to prove - keep in mind - if there are 6 water molecules each water molecule has 2 hydrogen attached = 12 hydrogen.

Also... i can't recall that new company in B.C. that has special tech for hydrgoen separation via steam reforming - i think their company name begain with a - K ?

If i recall,,, their process was different and might be possible to separate other formulas in a steam or gas... do forgive - at a loss for thier name. Pretty sure they recieved fundingfor thier process. They do not have any mineral deposits - just the tech.
