So that means that those who buy today won't touch the dividends.... Only those who bought them last Friday or before will be able to have them.

Mauserintime, i don't know what's your point with your "record date"  but here is the meaning of the "ex-date": The ex-date is usually one business day before the record date. Investors who purchase shares any day before the ex-dividend date will be documented as owners of shares on the record date. That means they'll be entitled to receive the dividend ...more
