News..NHC Communications Inc. Completes the Telcordia(TM) OSMINE Services Process NHC's ControlPoint(TM) solution provides "flow-through" provisioning to ILECs MONTREAL, Jan. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC), the first vendor to ship volume solutions for the automated main distribution frame market, today announced it has completed the Telcordia(TM) OSMINE Services Process for its ControlPoint(TM) solution for Telcordia(TM) FOMS (Frame Operations Management System). ControlPoint uses software and robotic technology to enable ILECs to remotely perform key tasks that have historically required manual on-site management. By completing the OSMINE process, NHC is helping to ensure network "flow- through" provisioning and operations efficiency within the networks of its ILEC customers. Eighty percent of the U.S. telecommunications networks depend on operations support systems (OSS) software developed and maintained by Telcordia. The major local exchange carriers manage their networks using these systems. The Telcordia OSMINE process helps enable network equipment compatibility and interoperability with Telcordia OSSs. Telcordia FOMS analyzes service order and work order facility assignment data (to determine network unit connectivity) and creates "connection packets" to send to the NHC ControlPoint device. Telcordia FOMS is a component of the Telcordia(TM) SWITCH(R) System, and part of the Telcordia Provisioning and Activation Suite. The Telcordia FOMS-Control Point interface sends service orders directly to the ControlPoint(TM) robotic cross-connect switch to complete the circuit. This eliminates manual processes normally associated with cross-connecting services in an ILEC's network, which reduces operating costs and dramatically improves the accuracy of database records. "Every ILEC wants 'flow-through' provisioning capability in order drive down operating costs," said Sylvain Abitbol, President and CEO of NHC. "Completion of the OSMINE process helps to ensure network interoperability with Telcordia OSSs and minimizes the impact of OSS integration into ILEC networks." Abitbol continued, "As the first in the automated any-to-any cross- connect switching space to complete the OSMINE process, NHC is continuing its leadership in physical layer connectivity. We're committed to helping our customers substantially lower their costs and optimize their networks and cross-connect databases with the ControlPoint(TM) solution, the industry's most robust platform with full non-blocking connections." "By providing flow-through solutions between OSSs, OSMINE makes it easier for service providers to provision and monitor features and services, minimizing the need for manual operations and improving the value of their network," said Dennis Tinley, vice president, Customer Solutions, Telcordia Technologies, Inc. "By completing the OSMINE process, NHC will be better able to seamlessly integrate ControlPoint into carrier networks, improving the carrier's operational efficiencies". NHC COMMUNICATIONS NHC Communications Inc. is a leading provider of products and services enabling the management of voice and data communications for telecommunications, Internet and enterprise service providers. We leverage our proprietary products to revolutionize the management of copper wire telecommunications networks. NHC's ControlPoint(TM) solutions utilize a high- performance software driven Element Management System (EMS) controlling an automated, true any-to-any copper cross-connect switch to enable incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) and enterprises to remotely perform the four key tasks that historically have required manual on-site management. These four functions fundamental to all operations are loop qualification, deployment and provisioning, fallback switching and service migration of Voice and Data services including DSL and T1/E1. Using ControlPoint(TM) ILECs and enterprises avoid the risk of human error and dramatically reduce labor and operating costs.
