$400-$500 per detection chamber? That's crazy...

I can't see why any buisness would be willing to pay for this. If you think it is I who is crazy please let me know lol. I expected these chambers to be much cheaper...

Recurring Revenue

The BioCloud unit operates with a proprietary detection chamber. The retail price for the detection chamber consumable will range from $400 to $500 and the recommended replacement is three times per year or whenever the detection chamber comes into contact with SARS-CoV-2. Customers that purchase multiple units will receive volume discounts for the detection chamber.

Thanks for replying John. I wish we would have more transparency on this although in the news release they were about as specific as they can be at this time.  IMO, if this price remains fixed the wide reaching applications and context for which this device was intended to be used just got a lot smaller in scope.  Very few mom and pop restaurants can afford to pay for the upkeep of ...more

Ink cartridges.
Comment by Whydunnit on Dec 23, 2020 1:55pm
If ink cartridges were $400 each and you needed a new one for each document, we'd still be using typewriters.
Comment by yearninyank on Dec 23, 2020 2:06pm
I always give benefit of the doubt until I detect a tone, then it changes. Okay I'll add some words to help you. Ink cartridges never did cost $500 but everyone has always whined they were expensive. Also, licensing rights to manufacture non-oem cartridges makes money still (it is quite an industry). And the printers get ever cheaper and even after everyone who ever wanted a printer bought one ...more

the greatest of GILETTE, give away the handle, sell the blades! give Israel the guns, sell them the ammo!
Comment by SpenceW15 on Dec 23, 2020 2:37pm
Point well taken. So perhaps overtime through economies of scale we will see the price come down for the units themselves however the price for cartridges could very well remain fixed. With additional recurring revenue coming from other biocloud detection chambers mentioned in presentation last week.

The rest of it is just a box a full of wires right... seriously though, the possibilites in a future world (a good one I mean) are amazing. We still call everything copier related a Xerox (well, I do but I'm old). What would really be cool is if they patented all this...:)
Comment by Nearnorth1234 on Dec 23, 2020 3:06pm
patents have already been submitted in the USA and Canada

someone who buys a $12,000 US machine is not going to worry about $1200-$1500 annuually to keep their staff and customers safe, it will be a big marketing advantage to have a Biocloud unit
Comment by deskmale on Dec 23, 2020 3:17pm
Exactly, that's a drop in the bucket for a lot of busineses.
Comment by Mazz45 on Dec 23, 2020 4:26pm
So just trying to catch up.  I honestly don't see any issue with the pricing for the cartridge.  Sure it sounds like a lot to a consumer but to a real business $500 is a rounding error.  When I do big deals anything +/- $100 is acceptable... so it really as a rounding error. Now I can see this to be more concerning for a large customer who say buys 1,000 units.  But I I ...more

If they're only putting a new chamber in as regularly scheduled maintenance, every three months, they probably don't need BioCloud.  If they really need BioCloud and are replacing chambers 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 times a week, it's not $1200-$1500 annually, it's $83,000 annually.  quote=Nearnorth1234]someone who buys a $12,000 US machine is not going to worry about $1200-$1500 ...more

oh geez, still? Ok, how much does it cost an individual, or a company, or a nation (assuming a good socilaized medicine program {wish we had one} to intubate a covid patient? The cost of the detction chambers will be borne as needed without a lot of fuss. But if you are that worried about it I say sell at the open.
Comment by Whydunnit on Dec 23, 2020 8:03pm
The cost of detection chambers will be borne as needed without a fuss by some people/companies.  Other people/companies will find the cost onerous and won't buy, but would if it weren't.  Pretty simple.
Comment by yearninyank on Dec 23, 2020 8:47pm
yep, simple   Everyone can't buy a Tesla, eat at Chiptole three times a week (oh I miss Chipotle), or buy a new I-phone every year but people who own those stocks don't argue on message boards I bet. Good luck to us all but if you have doubts get out - investing is expensive so let's keep it fun!
Comment by Whydunnit on Dec 23, 2020 8:52pm
I don't have doubts about BioCloud.  I see an obvious way to make it a better buying proposition.  I don't think the engineering will be as obvious but it's something KNR should be working on when the opportunity presents itself (which could be now for all we know). BTW I think people on message boards for every stock in history have, are and will continue to argue.  It ...more

Yeah, they have some form of recycling plan attached to this. I assume they refill the chambers chemicals. Ie.. if your Franchise orders 15,000 bioclouds. They'll be ordering 100,000 chambers.
