A long term positive
This may not show upon in any news items regarding NEM, but Barrick has recently stated that the mine life at Pueblo Viejo has been extended by 20 years. This should result in over 300 million ounces per year that Newmont can add to its projections. NEM has a 40% interest in the joint venture.
Funny, years ago, before that project came into existance, some individuals from the DR told me they knew of a lot of gold in that area.
They weren't just kidding.
I couldn't figure out a way to monetize that info but Barrick and Newmont certainly did.
