Noranda Income Fund Unit NNDIF

Noranda Income Fund is a Canadian based income trust. The fund owns the electrolytic zinc processing facility and ancillary assets located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. It produces refined zinc metal and by-products from sourced zinc concentrates. The fund's long-term objective is to maximize unitholder value and provide monthly distributions to unitholders.

Looking ahead

Looking aheadThe plant is up and running again and there will be a shareholder meeting in March to determine who the independent trustees will be.  If it goes to a vote, it is almost certain that the dissenting shareholders will win as virtually all shareholders outside of Glencore are dissatisfied with the performance of the existing trustees.  My guess is that there will be a negotiated settlement with the dissenting group obtaining two of the trustee spots.
The 4thQ will be a write off as the plant will have only been operating for 5 or 6 weeks.  After that, things should be looking pretty good, the price of zinc is encroaching on $1.50/lb, Spot TC's are $275/t and the premiums that Noranda receives will be higher next year.It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.  The share price is grossly undervalued.
