We felt a little honoured to be invited to the party this
past weekend for Mike Halvorson, the veteran Edmonton-
based mining guy who has played a rather significant
role in many companies over the past few decades.
His wife Jude, put on quite a party and considering it
was Mike’s 65th birthday, there were probably many
reasons to celebrate. There was still one interesting
development out of Mike’s past...and that has to do decades
ago when Mike was breaking into the investment
business and times were a little tough...he picked up a
rather interesting sideline.
He is a guy that some women might call “ruggedly
handsome” and way back in those days when pickings
were slim in the brokerage business, he managed to be
picking up a little bit of cash modeling on the side for
the Bay. At the party, Jude managed to find some of the
old pictures from way back when and my goodness—
that was a good looking guy (some of the girls were
gushing).
But anyway back to business. Mike is still busy at
this grand old age of 65, as he is one the board with
Novus, which is an oil company with Hugh Ross; on the
board of Orezone Gold with Ron Little and still on the
board of Esperanza Silver. Yes, he is involved with
Pediment and also on the board of Strathmore Minerals
and remains an advisor to Fission Energy.
Yes folks, mainly mining, but still some oil and gas
and he has always done more than his share in contributing
to most companies he has been involved with.
Other big success stories through the years have involved
companies like Viceroy and also Gentry.
