Many years ago English crossbows were made from the wood of a Yew tree. The British and the French were battling it out and the English archers had a great advantage in the battle field. One day, the French managed to capture many English archers. The French general being a gentleman, did not want to execute the English archers, but instead punished the English by cutting off the index fingers of all the archers. The archers were then released.
The archers returned to the battlefield and instead of using their index fingers to pull the trigger, or the arch string, they used their 3rd fingers to fire off the arrow with great accuracy too.
The archers then held up their 3rd fingers upwards at the French and with the Yew bow in the other hand shouted, "F-Yew". Later, it became F-you and the modern day bad karma curse of requiemeterna.
