News Release....OTIS RECEIVES PRELIMINARY ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING STUDY ON KILGORE GOLD PROJECT
Otis Gold Corp. has received a final copy of the preliminary environmental scoping study (ESS) on the company's Kilgore gold project from Golder Associates Inc. of Denver, Colo. Golder conducted a site visit of the project in October, 2010, which resulted in a 94-page report that provides an overview of the ecological, environmental and cultural issues involved in developing a gold mine at the deposit's location in Clark county, Idaho. The Golder study concluded: "No local organizations that would oppose the facility have been identified," and, "At this time, no issues have been identified that are considered fatal flaws," in connection with future mine permitting activities.
Golder's ESS outlines 11 areas where permits or approvals may involve standard baseline studies. Some of the data have already been collected, but there are other areas where data are required, most notably, hydrologic characterization and baseline monitoring, a one-year monitoring of air quality and meteorological data, a local soil survey at a scale of 1:12,000, and a Class III cultural resource inventory, all of which were recommended.
