RE: RE: RE: Sabine Pass natural gas plant, the nex With regard to the Pacific Trails pipeline I believe the natives are on board . They are to receive 550 million out of the profits of the project over a period of 20 years . The provincial government funded this by providing 35 million equity . The 550 million is split between the 15 bands who's territory the pipeline crosses . So the output is very generous considering the input .
Posting this material about the Cheniere project is contradictory because the article raises the fracking issue in a negative light . And fracking is the technology that makes this gas supply possible . Fracking must be used to supply the Pacific Trails gas too . So if you are a frackophobe you will not be impressed . Myself I think this anti fracktion is nonsense . Fracturing has been used in tens of thousands of wells for 50 years . Its only since they've started using multiple fracs that the media have picked up on it and massaged the average Starbuck latte quaffers dander up .
The point to me is that the company has delayed approval . It is very likely the next government will be NDP . The NDP has pledged to review fracking , raise royalties , implement windfall taxes . These measures don't make for a successful project . The election will be in May 2013 . Nothing major happens until then .
