Curis Resources Ltd > Town says strong no

Town says strong no

Ask CUV to explain how a resolution passed 6-1 strongly opposing their project and how they may be challenge even on state land.

Meanwhile, MIN is moving along and should surpass CUV in the first quarter. Grandich's ending of relationship with CUV and making MIN his largest single holding was a shot over the bow for CUV holders. I betcha it was his long relationship with HDI that stopped him from suggesting selling CUV and buying MIN.

Don;t be fooled, CUV ended up with a lump of coal in its Christmas stocking.

Elgin1: Thanks for posting that; I was just about to do so. Also, for all the CUV bashers and MIN supporters (I also own MIN), if CUV does run into any environmental problems with the in situ process then MIN will also fall under very heavy pressure, because contaminating water is illegal regardless of how close you are to a town! Pretty clear the State wants the CUV project to go forward, and ...more

Hey Adit1, Min also has no water source for its project. CUV has its own independent water supply for the project - this add costs substantially for MIN to bring a 5 kilometer pipeline from the nearest town. But your are right, MIN will ride the coattails of CUV.  Another note, if you read the state response to the city council- state is saying that the surrounding private lands are not ...more

If MIN has no access to water then they will be in trouble as their entire project is based on mining using water. What are you talking about elgin1?

Elgin1--excellent points on that State letter--was really surprising they were that direct with the Town; and that response came quick! In other words--you get the copper mine or you get nothing.

adit - what you refer to as the "State letter" is actually from the State Land Department.  It's not the least bit surprising they would issue such a letter.  What is most important here is the town of Florence will get almost nothing once the mine starts up.  This is true even if Curs were allowed to mine the entire deposit.  The reason the town pased ...more

@ ERING So what you are saying is that Curis could have avoided this whole thing and the Town council would have approved it if the town council got a percentage of profits??  I thought the town wasn't making economic decisions - they were only looking after the potenetial environmental effects to the aquafer to safe guard the town- even though the independent consultant they hired said ...more

elgin,  Yes - If there was a monetary benefit then the risk would be worth it.  Any reasonable town would do this with todays economic condtions.  Arizona being a desert, precipitation is almost nil in the region of the mine making water a non renewable resource.  Because towns/cities in Arizona are required by law to ensure adequate water supply for possible ...more

A few points to your post: 1) Curis amendment to build houses was to appease town council and to fit into the towns plan of residential housing on the land. That's it - no other reason. Curis worked with the planning and zoning commission for almost a year on it and then they  out right rejected it. They had no intention to approve it in the first place. Curis business is mines not ...more

elgin,  I'm don't understand the reasoning behind your rambling diatribe.  But I can only surmise that you are heavily invested thus the reason for your defensiveness.  I have only tried to post the facts so that others can make a reasonably sound decsion before sinking their funds into this project.  I openly welcome any criticism of my opinions but will ...more

Erin G, I find it quite amusing that you know that the City of Florence wanted $1.7 million annually from Curis to allow the project go ahead. Where did you get that info from? Yes I am heavily invested and I own a substantial amount in the company. I still feel that it is a hold right now until financing and land issues are resolved. You said you have spent alot of time analzying and ...more

elgin,  This is all public knowledge.  Why you find it amusing is beyond me.  The $1.7M figure was the estimated revenue from a severance tax levied by the Town.  The town actually passed this but later rescinded it after hearing from the State that they were not allowed to collect the tax. I do have a position on the company - STRONG SELL.  Until management ...more

Here is the link to analyst comment that you said I cut and paste: Please click the following link to view our January 4, 2012 - Metals Morning Note  How can you make a recommendation of strong sell when you don't own anything? I guess you have a right to bash a company. I wasn't aware of the $1.7 million tax that the City tried to put on Curis which then had to be rescinded ...more

Elgin1: Glad to have you on this Board--very good and rationale comments. I just love the comments by folks who call for management to be replaced, etc. I will put my faith in HDI over anonymous posters, with all due respect! After all, HDI folks have the most $$$ to lose so I am confident they are making rationale decisions. These junior stocks are risky, and stuff always comes up when you least ...more

elgin,  I wasn't inferring that you cut and paste the info.  My comment was in refference to the analysts report wich basically stated what had already been reported thus the reason for my copy/paste comment.  My apologies for not being more clear. As for the bashing, although it looks that way it's not my intention.  I want to see this stock perform just as ...more
