Alberta Looking to Cut ProductionArticle in the Globe from yesterday discusses how the Kenney gov is working with TC Energy and gas producers to find options to help keep industry players afloat as many smaller players are facing bankruptcy. There is discussion of curtailments to reduce the glut, options put forth are both incentive based and mandatory. Kenney seems to be looking for consensus. Cuts in NG are not as simple as with oil as dry NG is often a byproduct being produced along with the oil or NGL the producer is looking to profit from. If curtailments do occur it should provide support to gas producers and their share prices. The other key factor is, of course, the 3 year low in US NG pricing.
