RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Stock is undervaluedMary River disturbs the water weigh and many people in the communties of Pond Inlet, Clyde River, Igloolik and Arctic Bay were and are VERY concerned about that. They are concerned the narwhal and other whale pods will be effected not ot mention fish migrations.
As SOON as a whale pod is spotted everybody is gone, the towns virtually shut down and everybody goes out on the water. That required numerous community consultations and a complete change of the shipping patterns used to reduce concerns before they had communities on board.
Iqaluit is much more modern with far less people living off of country foods. Chidliak is not in an area known for caribou birthing or on the natural migratory root of caribou. As far as I know there will be no requirement to ship out thousands of tons of material and if a port was built it would be located in Iqaluit and would be a joint venture between the Feds, Nunavut and the mine.
In fact if they plan it right an all season road could be considered beneficial to the community much as the road from Rankin to Meliadine(I think I always get th egold mines confused) is as many people use it to get out to their cabins now.
