RE:Diamond formation and samplingDiamond eruptions blast to the surface at around 150km per hour.This is the lowest threshold for gem diamonds not to burn.Anything under that the diamond quality suffers as it is exposed to the heat too long and then gem stones turn to boart brown/gray.As for Chidliac the event was a cold eruption as a result the quality of these diamonds are high.
