Rite of passage... for at least the past 40 years hunters from Rankin have been harvesting pregnant females on their May migration to the calfing grounds and again In August on their return from the calfing grounds with their calfs then followed by the bulls. It has been known of elders hiring taxis to bring their grandchildren to the caribou crossing at the Melidine territorial park.in order to get their 1st harvested caribou.
