QEC

Tom specifically mentioned the QEC as a potential road share cost of the capital on the all weather road. Specific to the potential hydro location 15 km's near Chidliak.

On a slightly different note - wind energy.
This report came out  in March of this year specific to Wind energy.

"In the author’s view Iqaluit is the best location for a first project involving large turbines."

There is a map of the proposed site and it is located a few km's east of Iqaluit.

I'm sure the All weather road would  past by this location and when they construct the all weather road...serious consideration for electrical lines must be considered.

There is aways downtime in a city when it comes to electricity.
For example - Summertime in Iqaluit during the night shift at Chidliak?
A lot of power could probably be diverted to chidliak instead of Iqaluit.

This is another line of synergies that might be had.

Chidliak is a robust projects with a lot of permutations in front of it.

The all weather road decision is just one of those permutations that now has clarity.
There are many more to figure out.

LONG...PGD

Keep in mind wind energy is only supplemental to the grid. The idea of a "run of the river" generator is much more pratical for sustained power.

I guess the blimp idea is out the window now!

It has allways my contension from day 1  that the first priority, besides raising money, is that an all weather road has to be build, that would open the project and everything subsequent would fall in to place. The transportation savings would be substancial just to mention one item.

That all weather road will open up so many opportunties and cost savings. They have a timeline and a plan for the PEA. Now you need to bring in the brownfield exploration and insert into the equation of a new 5 year timeline starting today. You want to do more drilling, more LDD drilling, more trench samples, more, more and more. What is the cost benefit of doing that as soon as efficient at ...more

Similar issues with Stornoways Renard project but they had early support from local government way before they had the final project financing in place with of course many, many details figured out along the way.  When Renard was discussed as a no brainer mine, I believe the actual mine economics, length of mine, etc. were almost the same in the beginning except from more economic pipes ...more

Actually when I think back using my poorish memory, the cost of building Renard was much higher than initially is being forecasted for Chidliak.

Yes, the possibilities are endless if you have deep pockets. Do we? For the shareholders the most important information this year will be the source of funding.

I agree Mill, no brainer....money!

Winter roads are generally speaking economical when they are in reality "ice" roads. Enviromental sensitivities do not like winter roads on the tundra. In swamp like areas frost has to be driven into the ground with heavy equipment, obstacles cleared i.e.rocks and trees. Fortunately we don't have any trees but we also lack snowpack and are subject to blizzards. This scenario ...more
