A road to the site could be chalked up as infrastructure, maybe even power poles etc. Though it may not be wise for the mine to be on Iqaluit power grid. The road is a definite possibility. Increases the economic situation in Nunavut, job creation, tax base etc. all for a few million dollars towards a road. Could even partner with PGD through that fund, get an equity stake in the project similar to SWY going in with the Government of Quebec.

Up until yesterday, my prospects for QEC getting the Iqaluit hydro project anywhere close to off the ground was very, very low. Today it is just low thanks to the all the news about the Fed's trying to get rid of coal power by 2030. If they are dead serious about coal...they should be dead serious about replacing diesel generation with alternative energy. Iqaluit, shared road to Chidliak ...more

local (with feds help) build the road for an equity stake in the project,  hmmm, would that be too 'forward' thinking on any governments part?  Kill two birds and have a successful project actually pay for it down the road?  Hmmmm, If the region does turn out to be a diamond producrer like Ekati, an equity stake, as well as the tax haul,  would be huge to Baffin Island. ...more
