Government Pie

The government pie on Chidliak just got bigger.

In  the first PEA, the Federal and Nunavut's governments were in for a NPV of CAD$272 million.
This updated PEA, their share of the pie is up to CAD$390 million.
That equates to a 43% increase from PEA to PEA.

I'm not insinuating or inferring that the Government is going to helpl develop Chidliak at all...but showing numbers that their share of the pie is growing sure doesn't hinder the project at all.

If I were the govvernment and I was looking at Grays' port road (which they jsut denied financing)...I would do a calculation on what money can be spent by the government there and what the potential gains they will receive in the future.

That CAD$390 million above is direct taxes paid by the operator of Chidliak. That doesn't include all the personal incomes taxes from the labour forces, all the taxes paid by the construction vendors and so on and so on.

LONG...PGD

Not to mention benefits to the FLAT broke City of Iqaluit whos residents and representatives have huge sway in the legislative assembly of Nunavut.

I think the government of NU, politicians and the residents are all in favor of Chilldiak. It is the money side of things that we need to worry about.

I am absolutely not considering Gov buy in at any level for this. I am not however ruling out QIA or QC taking an equity position in this project or being instrumental in helping it proceed, the only reason QIA has ever posted a budget surplus is thanks to Baffinland Iron mine and Northern Nunavut communities are currently fighting for a bigger piece of that pie or even direct control of all ...more

would not be unusual for a government in Canada to help, true.
