Alex Holmes in PDAC 2019 (March 4th)

Alex Holmes in PDAC 2019 (March 4th)Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is the most important mining conference in the world. It takes place every year in Toronto, Canada, during the first week of March. Approximately 30,000 people attend each year, including junior mining companies, mining companies in production, representatives of national, regional and local governments, geologists, mining engineers, specialized mining law firms, investment banks, brokers, mining suppliers, funds of investment, students, etc. Peru is the second most important delegation of this great convention.

Alex Holmes will give the conference "Lithium Deposit in Peru" for 15 minutes between 11:55 and 13:05 hours, before the section "Comments, discussion & questions" conducted by Miguel Inchaustegui, Deputy Minister of Mines, and Victor Gobitz, Buenaventura CEO.

A good part of the Peruvian "mining ecosystem" is preparing to participate in the next conference of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), the largest mining event in the world that takes place every year in the city of Toronto and whose date is from March 3 to 6, 2019.

The participation of the Peruvian delegation - one of the most diverse and numerous - is led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and organized by the Chamber of Commerce Canada Peru.

"The focus for 2019 is to continue with the work of the last year, where we have a great deal of effort to be able to meet the various groups that make up the delegation: the suppliers will have the spaces to contact the miners or the authorities; the miners with investors and authorities, and so on, "Jorge Leon Benavides, who chairs the Organizing Committee of the Peruvian delegation, told MinerAndina.

He added that they are the sponsors of the delegation who finance most of the platforms and most are suppliers and the supplier is following the miner. "The Peruvians when we are outside we get together more, that is very Peruvian and gives results".

If the main spaces for the links between suppliers and miners are the Inauguration of the Estand, Peru Day and the Peruvian Cocktail, the one of the miners with the investors is the classic CEO-Lunch, where the organization has managed to increase from 5% to 40 % the presence of foreign investors. "We have friendly companies in Canada that are supporting us with direct invitations to investors", he explained.

Peru Day - a day of conferences on Peru - is also the space to bring miners and suppliers closer to authorities and investors. And the Peruvian Cocktail is the time of recreation of the entire delegation with the friends of Peru who participate in PDAC.

"The miner also has many meetings with investors, which we do not schedule. I would say that in those days, they have between 15 and 20 of those meetings", he said. But undoubtedly the main achievement for next year (2019), is to have confirmed the presence of the President of the Republic, Mr. Martin Vizcarra, who during PDAC 2018 was the then Ambassador of Peru in Canada. It will be the first time that a Peruvian president will attend PDAC.

The classic platforms mentioned above are adding a lunch for the sponsors as a special attention and a breakfast between miners and authorities to discuss issues in the sector. They are rather informal, or unofficial spaces.

"We know that the rest of the countries are envious of our delegation, not only because it is so numerous, but because of the number of different events that we organize and they have not achieved it [...] but what interests us most as Peruvians is that they really do business thanks to our platforms", commented Jorge Leon.

He added that he hopes that the Peruvian delegation for PDAC will continue to grow and the mining sector will realize -as it does not happen in other events- "the importance of uniting all under one flag and supporting all together to attract investments to Peru".
