Selby stated that they had difficulty raising capital and wound down the nickel mining started the process to sell and continued mining for gold in the meantime.
I believe he said on the weekend of the discovery that they decided to mine the other side I guess of the tunnel and that's when they hit large nuggets.up until that point the sale was in Phase 2 or 3 and I guess they weren't past the point of no return so they could back out of the deal.
So in my opinion they were more lucky than skilled on that particular weekend.
