Nice display - we assume they will be turned into money soon, presumably by auction to interested collectors. Apparently the Australian government can't afford to buy and keep them for the nation as an important historical record, despite a national 'budget' of 439 Billon dollars. With numbers like that, 30 million dollars is sofa/couch change.
That perspective reminds me of the multibillion dollar budgets of cities like Toronto that decide to close kiddie's wading pools and community hockey rinks to save a few hundred thousand bucks and demonstrate how fiscally prudent they are.
