Your math is a little off. Pinetree hasnt taken down any stock since this announcement below. Over 2 million shares of the 5.4 million shares are convertible debenture securities and warrants priced at an exercise price of 12 cents and higher. Looks like they are close to out. I dont think Pinetree selling, has anything to do with the financing. As I have seen other posters on other public company boards, (including this one) claim Pinetree has been actively selling positions this month.
 
 
 
Pinetree Capital Ltd. Acquires Securities of Santa Fe Metals Corporation
TORONTO, Canada (February 27, 2013) Pinetree Capital Ltd. (TSX: PNP), announces that on February 26, 2013, it acquired ownership of 1,666,668 common shares (“Common Shares”) and 1,666,668 common share purchase warrants (the “Warrants”) of Santa Fe Metals Corporation (“Santa Fe”).  Each Warrant entitles the holder thereof to acquire one additional common share at a price of $0.12 until February 25, 2015.   In the event that the Warrants are fully exercised, these holdings represent approximately 16.8% of the total issued and outstanding common shares of Santa Fe as of February 26, 2013, calculated on a partially diluted basis assuming the exercise of the Warrants only.  As a result of this transaction, Pinetree held, as at February 26, 2013, an aggregate of 3,366,668 common shares of Santa Fe, including the Common Shares, and rights to acquire an additional 2,066,668 common shares of Santa Fe upon exercise of certain convertible securities, including the Warrants (the “Convertible Securities”).   In the event that the Convertible Securities are fully exercised, the holdings of Pinetree represents a total of 5,433,336 common shares of Santa Fe, or approximately 26.8% of all issued and outstanding common shares as at February 26, 2013, calculated on a partially diluted basis assuming the exercise of the Convertible Securities only.
 
This transaction was made for investment purposes and Pinetree could increase or decrease its investment in Santa Fe depending on market conditions or any other relevant factor.
