Volume

There has been some decent, above average volume the last couple of days. I can only imaging some people are cashing out and taking their gains, while others (new investors) are buying in for the long term juicy distributions. Once this settles out a bit we should see the next leg up. I for one am looking forward to my nice payment next week :)

For sure there is some anxiety over the coming months and what delta may bring. Some may exit based on fear of further lockdowns. With over 76% of (eligible) Ontarians double vaxxed, that would be an extreme decision, although I wouldn't rule it out completely because we don't have the sharpest leader for Ontario. Although unpopular, I would continue to keep schools virtural until the 12 ...more

Not to get into politics on a business board, but as a parent of kindergarten age children online does not work. Open the schools, close the businesses if that's what it takes, otherwise the next generation will be in big trouble.  disclosure: I have about half of my children's RESP invested in SRV. Was higher but they were buying in for $15 or $16 per unit and reinvesting ...more

It's a catch-22, shuttering businesses and then supporting the masses to stay at home has ballooned the deficit from $25 billion to $350 billion in just over a year. Historic! Of course, this is a national figure but point being is our kids and even their kids will be paying for it and it isn't going to be pretty. The deficit cannot grow forever, there are consequences. Anyway, I dislike ...more

Up again today. I don't think these are small retail investors buying but one individual purchasing sizeable blocks. Maybe a new player has hit the scene.  just my personal hunch

Down again today. Would have expected more positive sentiment with Ontario vaccine passport on the way and the class action preliminary success for some restaurants and other entities in their business interuption claims.. If SIR could claw back lost sales that would be very good news, assuming we got a piece of it!

Do we know if SIR has insurance? I know other large restaurant companies "self insure" for the corporate stores, taking only the basic legally required. The thinking being what they lose in lost claims is more than made up for in premium savings. They make sure the franchises are insured so they aren't on the hook or incur any losses though lol

I believe SIR have stated a few times that thry had insurance but their claim was rejected - and that they are pursuing this.  No mention iof the size of the claim.
