Does anyone know when talk with Rogers becomes public?
Comment by SunsetGrill on Feb 02, 2021 3:59pm
Im thinking when they actually start talking - why does it have to be Rogers?
Comment by temeraire on Feb 03, 2021 2:06pm
They've always been talking and now with the Audets saying divinitively "non merci" RCI can turn its full balance sheet towards the Shaw family - who aren't exactly "close"..... elegant way out for all...

The drumming might light but troops are definitely being put in to formation....

....any comment.  Be careful with being a know-it-all. Feel free to apologies.   What else was Rogers to do with their FCF? Pay huge dividends?  They should have but why - the family don't need the money so they make overpaid acquisitions instead that often waste capital. How much did the NHL rights cost??  Flushing sound.....

From the PR: Rogers to purchase all outstanding Class A Shares and Class B Shares of Shaw for $40.50 per share in cash, reflecting a ~70% premium to Shaw’s Class B Share price https://stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2021/03/15/rogers-and-shaw-to-come-together-in-26-billion-transaction-creating-new-jobs

...I'm not actually gloating.  I was happy with with their dividend too.  Truthfully wished I'd bought more.  The thesis was compelling though unlike in the US we don't have private equity investors screaming for special dividends when they can be afforded.  Instead we get expensive  acquisitions - Rogers had no where to turn in Canada but to Shaw & no ...more

What's funny is how quiet this board has been - certainly since I joined. You've clearly been here longer.  I thought of Telus but was persuaded that the investment wankers had gone to all the trouble of putting the $ hoard in place to pay the Audets.   Once it was clearly dead they needed a target for the financing - Shaw was the only thing that seemed reasonable.
