Universally Compatible Format for Sension Hi-Fi 3D
Universally Compatible Format for Sension Hi-Fi 3DAfter seeing the good reviews on the LG-3DGO! combination, I re-read Sensio's news release on the new version of the Hi-3D format announced in early March, and now realize how important this might be:
1. If the new format is 'universally compatible', than it should be a simple task to add new manufacturers and models. In the past, it has been limited to certain models (in certain years) and has taken weeks if, if not months, to make them 3DGO! ready.
2. If (and when) Samsung comes on board it will mean that 3dGO! will be available to CEs that have sold over 80% of 3DTVs from 2011 to 2014. It should be simple to add the other manufactures as it would be in their best interest (they would get a % of the 3DGO! rentals). It should be available for most 3D smart Tvs.
3. The new format could be on Blu-Ray players and Cable units. I have a JVC front projector (non-3D) and was waiting to replace it with a projector that has streaming apps; now I can just look a for a player that will have 3DGO! and then choose a 3D projector.
4. The recent reviews suggest that the majority of users will be satisfied by the new format. However, the new release also states " The new format is also compatible with the Sensio HI-Fi decoder, offering its users better quality than with conventional side-by-side decoders". This might mean marketing a higher level experience, maybe suitable for larger screen sizes/high-end models, etc. I certainly would want that option.
I hope we can get clarification on these issues, as well as an announcement on a Samsung partnership over the next 2 weeks. Now I can see why Bruce Campbell was so excited; this thing could fly!
