20:20 foresight

20:20 foresightReading through last week's transcript, I noticed this statement from the CEO "The sharp decline (in 3DGo user sign ups) was caused by Vizio's decision to stop making new 3DTVs, which had a major impact on our ability to recruit new users. Keep in mind that new 3DTV buyers are much easier to recruit, especially during their exploration phase of their new TVs compared to old 3DTV owners." When I last checked LG's US website, they had only a handful (10 or less) models of 3D TV. Given that SIO acknowledges that their user sign ups are mainly driven by the sales of new 3D TVs, if LG are selling fewer 3D TVs in the US (also mentioned in the release), then I suspect that when the Q1 results are published, we may be hearing a similar message about LG that we just heard about Vizio - namely that 3DGo user registrations are lower than expected since LG sold fewer 3D TVs in the US. Looking at Samsung's website, they appear to list 20+ models of 3D TV which are all 4K/UHD models. It seems that Samsung is SIOs only hope of making a business out of 3DGo as they're the only manufacturer who still has a decent commitment to 3D TV. As to expansion into Europe, that seems beyond the reach of their current working capital since it would more than likely require additional consideration to the studios to expand the streaming rights beyond the US and Canada.
