Patents

Patents

While browsing some of the existing Deloitte documentation, I noticed something I hadn't noticed before, and I don't think it's been posted here.

Basically, there is a clear list of the patents that were supposedly sold in December, included in this document:
https://www.insolvencies.deloitte.ca/en-ca/Documents/Sensio%20Technologies%20Inc/ca_insolv_en_SensioTechnologies_TrusteeReport_122315.pdf

I say "supposedly" because I'm not 100% sure about the wording. The document says "The first phase would be to sell some of its patents detailed on Appendix A to this report". Now does that mean that the plan was to sell of the the patents in Appendix A, which are some of SIO's patents, or to sell some of the patents of Appendix A, which are all of SIO's patents? I'm pretty sure it's the former, but I'll leave it to you to decide.

According to that list, the following issued patents were sold. I have included the patent info as well as the corresponding SIO PR when available:

  • 1647546 (China - issued 04/2013) - Info
  • 102905149 (China - issued 10/2015) - Info
  • 60345274 (Germany - issued 11/2013) - Info - PR
  • 60345279 (Germany - issued 11/2013) - Info - same PR as previous
  • 2083574  (Europe, France, UK - issued 11/2013) - same info/PR as previous
  • 2211557 (Europe, France, UK - issued 11/2013) - same info/PR as previous
  • 1145110 (Hong Kong - date unknown)
  • 242873 (India - date unknown)
  • 5230892 (Japan - date unknown)
  • 5421821 (Japan - date unknown)
  • 5663617 (Japan - date unknown)
  • 7,580,463 (US - issued 08/2009) - Info
  • 7,693,221 (US - issued 04/2010) - Info
  • 8,804,842 (US - issued 08/2014) - InfoPR
  • 8,384,766 (US - issued 02/2013) - Info -- PR
  • 7,844,001 (US - issued 11/2010) - Info
  • 8,743,177 (US - issued 06/2014) - InfoPR

I'm no expert but it does seem to me like they did part with the Hi-Fi and S2D patents, or at least key patents supporting those technologies.
