Samsung 3DGO!

Atomicboy - I can't provide any #'s, but it sounds like Samsung downloads and rentals may actually be accelerating from their great start. Samsung has added 3DGO! to their list of "preferred apps", right next to the Netflix's of the world, which is giving it great visibility to both new and existing Samsung 3DTV owners.

Given this, and the jump in downloads we have recently seen on LG, this quarter looks like it could really (finally) be impressive. I last bought shares at .105 after most recent earnings. Thinking about adding again here on this pullback.

Hedge, where are you getting the Samsung app data from? I went to Samsung's US website www.samsung.com/us/appstore/browse and if you sort the video apps by 'Most Popular', 3D Go is on page 14 of the 16 pages of 301 video apps in the list

Polebrook - I know exactly what you are referring to, but unfortunately in Samsung's case I don't think we can rely on Samsung's website stats at all. For instance, take a look at page 1 of the "most popular" apps. Obviously #1 would be Netflix, right?  Umm, nope AolOn is listed as #1 and Art4HD is #2. And Netflix? #30 apparently. Just doesn't make any sense.  ...more

Hedge, just out of curiosity and asking for permission to but in: You can`t provide any numbers but you say it sounds like Samsung downloads and rentals may actually be accelerating from their great start, I wasn`t even aware of that great start.. Samsung has added 3DGo to the list of "prefered apps",giving great visibility to old and new owners. You also say given this and the jump in ...more

Sailor, you wrote what I was thinking. How does Hedge know this information when it is apparently only available to SIO from Samsung and SIO hasn't made any comments about the uptake of 3DGo on Samsung 3D TVs? They did say in the last cc that they had seen some improvements in downloads of the app after the end of the last quarter (August) but these latest comments do seem fishy to me. And ...more

Sailor - I always assumed our due dilligence efforts were similar, even if our conclusions were different. i.e., constantly speak to as many people, past and present, who work or who have worked at the company, at TV manufacturers, in the media, in the distribution channels, at partner companies, customers, and at inventment houses, to come up with a conclusion on whether to bet, raise or fold ...more

Hedge - you are right, besides the point that we are two of the hardest working posters in this board you are right to assume that our DD was and probably still similar in many ways even if as you say our conclusions have become different. I believe the reason for that is that after all my digging I give what I consider my humble-honest opinion, there`s some praise and some criticism, a mixture of ...more
