SND has had such a long run of bad luck (and yes, poor management decisions) that people are writing off deals prematurely now. There is nothing wrong with CSI except for some largely anticipated dewatering issues, and it is perfectly normal to proceed without a 43-101 in circumstances where the resource cannot be properly evaluated using this method. The important thing is that Sandstorm knows that there is gold and platinum in that pit, heaps of it. (And even better, enough palladium to hopefully pull SM&E out of its different sort of pit.) And CSI is not likely to run out of money like so many of SND's other partners have.
IMO, this is going to be a big winner for Sandstorm, and especially for the little sister. The fact that there is no 43-101 is in part what makes it such a good deal, because a lot of investors, especially institutions, can't touch it without one. There are risks to any mining project, including CSI, but this is not one of them.
