For Those Who Invested in SLW Since the Beginning...

Is this normal for a streaming company to be down in the dumps like this, or is this a sector weakeness thing right now?  Since the stock started to go down this year, I have been buying on the dips...but it keeps dipping and I keep getting discouraged.  Was Silver Wheaton like this when it started? Was Sandstorm Gold like this?  I'm just trying to get a sense of whether I should keep buying on the dips...I believe in Nolan's ability to run a company and he has a proven track record, but I also know there were some bad streams with SM&E, but I would have thought that the worst was over...thoughts?

Hi Gazelle, I was not in SLW from the beginning but do remember it dipping quite a bit in the financial meltdown. I do not recall a lot of bankruptcies but only got in in 2009. My thoughts are that SND is in such pain because they invested in too many weak companies. I recently got back in this company because I thought I saw value here. I guess the other thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is how a guy with the know-how and the business acumen and the industry experience as Nolan Watson can make such bad decisions on deals for S&ME unless he just has no familiarity in this sector.  I still believe that things can be turned around but it seems like we've been in a lull for months now.

You're right in suggesting that NW didn't have much experience in metals and energy streaming. After all, nobody did. That's why he brought onboard (if somewhat belatedly) the best people he could find in the industry to help make those decisions.
