Short Positions

Short PositionsI am neutral on whether or not the "shorts" are the single motivations for the bashers buuuuuutttttt I can support Market Miner's views on how individual Houses deal with the shorting issue. My broker on occasion has had a differing view than the official house position and has called me to advise she is sending me the actual certificates so they are held outside and not available as "in house paper" to cover localized short positions. At the end of the problematic period I then send them back to facilitate future trades. Must be more of a problem though as time goes on as I suspect that most investors are like myself and that I have only one full service brokerage account but increasingly more of my holdings are in accounts where the "loaning" out of short coverings would be more difficult to accomplish.
