Yes, that may be a fact that your son wasn't all that impressed, however my 15 year old stepson was also fitted back in January.  He LOVES them and his friends all think the custom fit is cool!!  So it's more of an opinion than fact based.

My stepson is heavily into sports, and he wears them all the time.  He uses them while working out as well as kicking back and listening to his music.  And let me tell you he's hard on things......the earbuds have held up and he finds them more comfortable than anything else he's ever used.  He also thinks the sound is great and swears by them!  As a parent, knowing the kids ears are protected is what impresses me.....I'd rather be pro-active then have our kids lose their hearing or part of it, by the age of 30.

Just because your teen doesn't like them, doesn't mean that'll be the norm, it's just his opinion and yours.  I respect that it's not for everyone......Heck, my Mom can't stand the itouch, but that hasn't hurt Apple's sales!
