Bought new earbuds today...

Well my Eeers finally needed to be replaced and I will say they were awesome!  I went to Best Buy and guess what, Eers were no where to seen....SHOCKER!  So I bought another pair for 100.00 and used them at the gym just now.  Absolutely no compaints with the new earbuds and there was no way I was buying a pair of eers online.  When I want something to use, I want it now.

So there is another sale SHH missed out on and it won't be the last.

?. Fascinating. Did you not like the form-fitting ear-thing? Not enough to plan a purchase a few days in advance of the need?   Why did they need replacing?
Comment by TheIceMan3 on Jan 07, 2013 5:53pm
As I said, the form fitting was fantastic but they wore out after years of heavy use at they gym and jogging.  I don't want to sit around waiting for something to show up and then hope I'm home when UPS or Fedex decides to show up.  Personally, I don't buy anything online that I need to take physical possession of.  Just my personal preference.   Ice

I realize that tomorrow is not the same as "now" but for the same price, you could have gotten a pair of the 250's on Amazon.>

Broadening my query. Has anyone Ever said That "In-Ear" speakers were the best? That Over-Ear headsets were lousy? That the small, medium, large foam plugs for cheap in-ear headsets were (insert word here: lousy or acceptable)? Or anything similar to these statements?
Comment by shopharim on Jan 10, 2013 9:36am
In my circle (professional and semi-professional musicians) it is a coin toss.  Some people love in-ear and others want over-the-ear.  The differentiators usually are subjective things like comfort or appearance. For those who prefer the in-ear, I usually find that people are partial to the material of the ear bud.  Some swear by foam, others want the silicon.  A fair number ...more

Real stuff here ; thank you shopharim for this information, personal, anecdotal, 1/2 verifiable + unverifiable, but good good good. The big Q is whether or not custom is worth zip or a lot more than that.   This Q is not news to anyone. It's a Q that needs you ALL to expand upon. You keeners. Why? Because i.m.o. the community of keeners has to do some of the ground-level study that SHH ...more

Comment by shopharim on Jan 10, 2013 11:06am
That is exactly what I have in mind.  And, I believe there are a couple of inexpensive things the company can do to help that effort.  One item I already proposed to them (albeit, via Twitter): go to the NAMM conference (https://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2013).  It is a music equivalent to CES.   Coupled with that, I would recommend a couple of endorsement deals with some key ...more

Good ideas. Your view fits too: that an inexpensive start is better than an ideal but expensive rollout. " ... Sonomax people monitor this board? " As long as real users are talking about the enduser experience, there is hope.   Tks!

Shopharim, you have a lot of catching up to do. The regulkar posters have been in this for years and your comming ot the table to ideas that have been tried tested and in some cases failed. Sonomax has a plan to push forward with thier hearing protection model. They are leaving the consumer buds to the guys at MADE global brands and Valuelink. Sonomax has to focus on what they know.... large ...more

That makes sense.  I wonder if the Klipsch's, Shure's, Whetstone's, etc of the world will want the technology in production or will want it buried.   any body have a link that gives more details on what IP was included in the ValueLink deal?  Was it 51% of the entire patent portfolio?  Was it certain patents meaningful to the consumer market?
Comment by The_Primed_Report on Jan 10, 2013 5:05pm
As I understand it, all IP that was existing to that point and no rights to any future IP that is currently in development. I may be wrong but that is my understanding.
Comment by 1handontheotherhand on Jan 10, 2013 5:09pm
Whether or not consumers demand it . Whether or not consumers will Go For It. Whether or not the manufacturers can turn this feature into a Hot Selling Point. This is all that matters. These questions have already been raised thousands of times before in other places. Undoubtedly.   -- It was 51% of all IP.
Comment by The_Primed_Report on Jan 11, 2013 6:22am
Not exactly true. The right team for promotion and marketing will create the demand, create the want, force the consumers to go for it. With this product it should be relativly easy IMO. Think about it... how many people really needed or wanted a slap chop?
Comment by 1handontheotherhand on Jan 11, 2013 6:57am
Disagree with "not exactly true" -- you are overthinking it as a mental exercise.   There comes a time when it's necessary to strip away all the theory of future marketing, and look at the raw demand.   After that THEN see how to build that demand up.        This is all it is, in the final analysis: earplugs.     Has anyone ever posted saying ...more

If they can sell millions of pet rocks then this should have been a no-brainer,major obstacle obviously the price point.Made in Taiwan sounds good to me @ half the price.Quality may suffer but who cares about quality anymore. wdr2
Comment by 1handontheotherhand on Jan 11, 2013 10:06am
100% wrong on all counts. Going down-market puts it into comparisons with $10 Sony earbuds. Talking of petrocks puts you into pure play territory, marketing-wise. Dissing quality puts you into fecal matter Sheiss territory. Wdr2 stay away from any analysis. You are not an analyzer. Know your strengths.
