But I guarantee you that you are safer in your ABS/stability controlled car than you were in a car 30 years ago under the same conditions.
Conditions would be identical. Technological improvements would possibly make the difference between life and death...
With respect to blame/cause of such an accident, most accident investigators will look to weather as a factor in finding cause. IE. Snow reduced available traction... Nothing you can do about it, but there it is.
