What the Americans need to do....
What the Americans need to do....is get off their ego pedestal. They seem to think they are the next best thing to sliced bread, but in actual fact they are one of the most hated countries in the world. Many countries call on them to rescue them, but are laughing behind their backs.
In all seriousness, the Americans need to generate revenue...and as JonDubin suggested (and I agree) eliminate the criminality of drugs, i.e. Marijuana. Can you imagine how much money they would save, plus the taxes that would be generated from making it legal.
- Get rid of the 3 strikes your out, in most cases those that are enveloped in that rule only commit non-serious crimes. For those that commit the more serious crimes, throw away the key.
- Decrease tax levels, so those that earn more will have to pay taxes on less earnings. (This should not affect those on lower incomes)
- Increase the small business tax levels (Small business is where it's at and with this increase will generate more jobs) (Small business taxed very highly and don't have the benefits of the write offs and tax avoidance as large corporations do)
- Decrease the amount of jobs outside of the country. (Corporations must have a certain percentage of employees working and paying taxes within the states)
- Government(s) MUST have a balanced budget
- Initiate a HST, (I've heard it suggested by US politicians), still on the fence about that one here in BC.
I do think it's strange for some comments/postings to suggest the last few days of the trading suggests the drop has incorporated the AA+ downgrade is built into the trading already, when the Dow closed in the green yesterday. In actual fact the TSX suffered greater losses. An indication to me, that Canada needs to separate itself more from the Americans.
Just my thoughts and opinions...frustrated by the stupidity that is going on. If I was an American they'd be hearing me now, I'd be fuming; not that I'm not...but you know what I mean.
Let's hope Monday isn't as bad as what we might think it will be. (Mind you mm's will take great advantage of the fear factor). GLTA and have a great weekend.
