Ethiopia: Major opposition calls for Arab-style up

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - A major opposition party in Ethiopia, Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ), Sunday called for Arab-style uprising in Ethiopia, to topple the current regime. “The struggle for freedom that is being waged in the Arab World and its outcome is inspiring. The time for sitting and waiting has passed. Every citizen must stand up and struggle to become a master of her/his freedom,” read UDJ New Year call, issued 11 September.It said the time to end darkness, dictatorship and reclaim stolen freedom is nowIts unique calendar seven years behind the Gregorian means Ethiopia would enter 2004 on Monday, 12 September. “Pick up the flag of your predecessors and mark the beginning of your role as apostles of constructive change,” said UDJ in specific message to the youth, adding “do not expect anyone to deliver to you your freedom on a silver platter.
