Financing of Tadjourah port approved

Djiboutian Parliament Leaders Ratify International Aid, Loan Agreements

Leaders of Djibouti's parliamentary committees met Sunday (May 12th) to review and ratify recent legislation, the Djiboutian Information Agency reported.

They covered numerous items of business, including approval of a law governing the use of aid from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to the Djibouti Economic Development Fund, a loan agreement with Saudi Arabia for the first phase of construction at Tadjourah port, safety agreements with the International Maritime Organisation and the monitoring of Djibouti Telecom's financial activities.

The leaders also addressed anti-pollution efforts in maritime trade, adopting a law that addresses responsibility and indemnity, fulfilling international conventions from as far back as 1972.
