RE:RE:Froggy.... here is one example...No answer for you gaggs....when a stock like AAA is shorted to the tune of 1.5 million shares it leaves me scratching my head as well, imagining all manner of reasons including the one you just enumerated....as for if it is done is there a trail....well, if its been done (here or elsewhere) I doubt there's a log of the activity.
My opinion that AAA has been shorted since the beginning of the month is based on the trading activity, nothing more....and its an opinion that may or may not be vindicated over the next couple of weeks depending on the trading that takes place in the days to come. If a wave of buying comes in that is the result of shorts covering, then we won't know if recent trading has been short related. On the other hand if the trading stays light I expect to see a signifcant jump reported on the 18th.
