September operational updateSeptember operational update
We continued to see thunderstorm activity impacting our operations in the U.S. Northeast throughout September. The operation also contended with two separate tropical storms with Lee impacting Atlantic Canada and Ophelia disrupting operations in the U.S. Northeast. Our operational teams proactively reviewed and added capacity prior to and after the storms passed to minimize the impact on our customers’ travel plans.
“A special thanks to our teams in Atlantic Canada in dealing with tropical storm Lee, which had a significant impact not only on our operation, but also on the communities that were affected by the storm,” said Cale Daniels, Vice President, System Operations Control. “The teams’ perseverance leading up to, during and after the storm had passed was critical in minimizing the disruption to our customers.”
Despite these weather challenges, we saw continuous improvements in all key metrics of how our customers feel about their experience with Air Canada. In particular, a strong improvement in the transborder market was remarkable considering the weather disruptions experienced in the U.S. Northeast and along the Canadian east coast. Another achievement is that we successfully met our flight completion targets for the network in September.
