Rates link to travel demand
According to global news article 30% of Canadians have their house mortgage free. I am assuming these are retired or close to retiring group.
These are the same group which will be doing more leisure travel and are fed up of covid restrictions from past few years.
Rate increase will have minimum impact on this group, and watch the summer travel number goes up.
And of course not all are suffering from inflation and they will also continue to travel.

Covid like the financial crises just widened the wealth gap. The ones without the means to fly were spending their vacations at Chuck E Cheese anyway where Returns0 works.
