RE:reason for all the shorting....grip you evidently have "0" clue of what your posting.
1- Reputable brokers ( full serv or discount ) will not allow short trading in TFSA
2- Unless you have corporate trade acct, 50% of capital gain is tax ( Canada and non TFSA)
People SHORT in order to make some quick $money$ in a time period of a day or less., over weeks, months, years. $$$$$ or ?
Can be more profitable than holding long for year's ., but in shorting you must keep
on top of the second by second market activity, news....

gripp49 - (6/25/2018 12:16:38 PM) reason for all the shorting.... the higher amount allowed in TFSA accts,over the last few yrs. Investors are shorting because of tax savings on profit taking.
